HOMEMADE PIZZA DOUGH

By Firefighter Kyle Sheley

Ingredients

(1) cup warm water

2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast

(1) Tablespoon Honey or Sugar

(1) teaspoon salt

(2) Tablespoons Olive Oil

(3+) Cups Bread Flour

Recipe:

In a large mixing bowl, preferably that of a stand mixer, manually whisk together warm water, yeast, and honey or sugar.  Let sit for approximately 10 minutes or until bubbles form and mixture starts to foam.

Add in salt, olive oil, and 2 cups of flour.  Use the dough hook attachment for the stand mixer.

Mix ingredients together on low speed.

Slowly add in additional flour, about 1/2 cup to 1 cup at a time until dough is slightly tacky and no longer sticks to the bottom of the mixer bowl.

Once you reach this stage, turn mixer on a low/medium speed, let run/knead for 6 minutes.

Lightly grease/oil a medium to large bowl.  Place dough ball into bowl and brush lightly with olive oil.

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 2 hours.

Dough should almost double in size.

At this point, it's ready to use, press out dough onto a pizza pan, top with sauce and favorite toppings, bake in a pre-heated 425 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until cheese melts/browns and bottom of crust slightly browns.
